Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences
Division of Biogenic Raw Materials conducts research in the field of environmental management and engineering as well as biotechnology. Division participates in international projects (Horizon 2020, EIT Raw Materials, NAWA) related to resources and waste management, including development of recommendations (road maps) for the implementation of the European Green Deal, sustainable development (SD), circular economy (CE) in the raw materials, water and sewage, fertilizer and agri-food sectors.
GreenBack Sp z o.o.
The GreenBack Sp. z o.o. was funded in 2012, in response to the growing social and economic demand, for the innovative environmental services and products. The main specializations of company are production, sales and distribution of bio-friendly products and solutions, from the fields of biotechnology, ecological agriculture, soil remediation and waste management. The main aim of the Company agenda is to strive for the widest possible dissemination of the principles of sustainable development. The scope of activities within the offer of GreenBack Company includes: Production sales and distribution of eco-friendly products, such as: OrbiHum, Green Antyvir Rex and more; R&D works within the fields of biotechnology, agriculture, soil remediation and waste management; Realization of the specialized works associated with the planning, development and execution of soil remediation procedures, in-situ contaminants neutralization and contaminated wastes management.
The main areas of the interest are support projects for those in need, including social welfare centers for the elderly, the disabled and children. i Special interst is ecological education and promotion of zero waste strategy and circular economy.
Young for ClimateStowarzyszenie Młodzi dla Klimatu (Young for Climate Poland Association) is a small youth NGO, founded in February 2020 by a group of young Polish climate and ecological activists. It focuses on education, awareness-raising, promotion of sustainable development, and climate justice, as well as dialogue, cooperation and equal participation. The main goals of the Association are to empower young people, represent their interests, and help them in implementing their innovative ideas. With approximately 40 members from all around Poland, we work mostly on regional and national levels, while also cooperating with some international organizations, including the International Youth Climate Movement. Our daily activities include direct activism, social projects, organizing events or meetings, and educational campaigns, both in-person and online.
Proman Management GmbH
Proman Management GmbH, founded in 2002, is a small SME that designs, manages and evaluates innovation, research and development projects for business, policy makers and non-profit organisations. Our team operates at the interface of academic and industrial research combining industry driven thinking and scientific inquisitiveness for integrated process solutions. World class expertise and experience in the design, development and economic and environmental impact assessment (LCA) of biological and thermal biomass-to-energy (BtE) processes including separation, recovering and recycling of minerals and metals is documented in patents, articles, scientific papers, reports, books and presentations. A team of economists and engineers covers legal, market, business, process and environment related activities aiming at the transition of innovations to the market and the evaluation of technologies and processes. The Proman team is present in European expert groups and has authored and co-authored studies on phosphate processing on behalf of Swiss and German governmental bodies.
Founded in 2016, Science Trainer is the first Polish company specialised in researcher development services. Working with experts specialised in different research skills, we offer support to groups or individual researchers. The company provides services of planning and organisation of actions aiming to fully explore potential of Polish researchers for the benefit of science, society and economy. Since 2019 we have organised Science Trainer’s Course – the first Polish train the trainers’ school for people working in science and technology sector. We plan, organise and provide national and international training programmes, we also support research funding actions as experts in evaluation of proposals and monitoring experts in ongoing projects.
Schwander Polska® is a Polish company specialising in the design and construction of state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plants based on MBR (Membrane Biological Reactor) technology, with over 40 plants in operation at the moment.
The primary focus of the company is the implementation of Circular Economy principles, especially in terms of water reclamation, nutrients recovery, and sewage sludge disposal, with the most prominent examples including using reclaimed water for artificial snowmaking, watering of green areas, toilet flushing, as a process water an more. In 2021 the company has commenced research on pilot installation for hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) for sewage sludge disposal, aimed at creating the first Polish wastewater treatment plant implementing Circular Economy principles in every aspect (energy and resources recovery).
Wastewater treatment technology, utilising membrane processes and UV disinfection, combined with proprietary technological solutions developed over 15 years of company’s experience is currently undergoing the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) under the European Committee to confirm the degree of micropollutants reduction and compliance with requirements set out in the Regulation (EU) 2020/741 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 2020 on minimum requirements for water reuse.

Polish Waterworks Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce Polish Waterworks is the only organisation of economic self-government in the water and sewage sector in Poland. The Chamber of Commerce brings together 507 of the largest companies in the water and waste water market. The headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce “Polish Waterworks” is located in Bydgoszcz.
The Chamber strives to create favorable conditions for the functioning of the water and sewage sector. The Chamber’s representatives and experts interpret and evaluate the applicable regulations on an ongoing basis, monitor proposed changes, participate in the creation of industry law and introduce solutions that improve the functioning of the industry. The Chamber conducts advisory, training and publishing activities. It represents the interests of its members on the national forum, especially towards state and local government bodies. One of the main tasks of the Polish Waterworks Chamber of Commerce is to act to protect the environment.
Polish Waters National Water Management
Polish Waters National Water Management is the main entity responsible for the national water management.
The mission of Polish Waters is to protect the inhabitants of Poland from floods and droughts, to sustainably manage water resources and to provide good quality water for present and future generations. Polish Waters also acts as a regulatory body to protect residents against unjustified increases in the price of water supply and sewage services.
National Centre of Research and Development
The main task of the National Centre for Research and Development is management and execution of strategic research and development programs, which lead directly to the development of innovativeness. Among the tasks of the National Centre for Research and Development, are the support of commercialization and other forms of transfer of scientific research results, the management of applied research programs and the performance of national security and defense projects.
The Centre also attempts to provide young scientists with training and development opportunities i.a. by implementing international scientific mobility programs. Special attention is paid to the participation of young scientists in research programs. The Centre enables young researchers to expand their business and intellectual property management skills and to learn how to commercialize research results.
At the same time, via implemented initiatives, it draws attention to the necessity of rasing the R&D staff’s awareness of the importance of industrial property protection to the commercialization of modern solutions and international patent protection opportunities for research units.
Polish Young Academy PAS
The Academy of Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established to promote research and development work carried out by outstanding people form the Polish science community.
The tasks of the Academy focus on activities aimed at activating the community of young scientists, among other by organizing debats, discussions and scientific conferences; preparation of scientific opinions or dissemination of ethical standards among young scientists.
